Julia Beattie traveled the world with nomadic parents before growing up mostly in England. (The actual growing up is mostly still happening). Salt Spring Island has become her latest home. There, she plays solo in sunlit outdoor settings and writes songs for an EP set to be released in singles this spring with co-writer Dave Ronald.

Julia’s first album, ‘The Orchid Room’, is beat driven, atmospheric music. Her influences run from Pat Metheny to The Cure and Everything But The Girl. Unsigned Magazine recently touted the album as being “exotic and erotic…music that you play when you’re talking about life, philosophy and BIG THINGS.” Her songs have been played on CBC’s North by Northwest.
